Campus Recruiting

Undergraduate
Many current executives and managers began working for Ryerson right after college. Traditional campus recruiting, combined with a targeted program for MBA recruits, has allowed Ryerson to remain competitive. We constantly fill our leadership development pipeline with talented individuals who bring fresh, creative perspectives.

Ryerson has elected to focus our efforts at a targeted number of colleges and universities nationwide. In this way, we are able to develop long-term relationships with students, faculty and staff. Students considering a career at Ryerson are able to contact alumni who have gone before them and are building exciting careers.

We are on-campus during both the fall and spring recruiting seasons, attending career fairs, conducting interviews and participating in academic programs.

General Manager Development Program (GMDP)
Designed for the most talented MBAs from premier business schools, our GMDP program offers an accelerated path to full P&L responsibility. The program is also open to undergraduates from the top-rated distribution management programs in the country.

The GMDP program is personally sponsored by our CEO and combines a series of carefully selected job assignments, tailored to the participant’s developmental needs and career interests, with individual mentoring by an assigned executive. If you have an MBA, it is expected that within five years you will be prepared to run your own service center or staff function. If you have a bachelor’s degree, you will most likely be ready for the general manager role in less than ten years. Regardless of your degree, your progress will be determined by your results, not tenure.

Ryerson representatives visit selected campuses in the fall to interview December and May graduates and in the spring to interview those interested in internships. Our schedules are typically a combination of pre-select and open schedules.
