Outreach & Recruitment
Our proactive outreach and recruitment efforts deliberately focus on increasing diversity. We work with organizations and universities to reach prospective candidates that may be a good fit for Ryerson and will contribute to the success of the company. Some of our efforts include:
- Student Outreach. Ryerson actively supports and recruits from diverse student groups that are underrepresented in the metals and industrial distribution field. The company does this through its relationship with universities offering programs in industrial distribution – including Texas A&M University, University of Nebraska at Kearney and University of Alabama at Birmingham.
- Supporting AWMI. Ryerson is a proud supporter of the Association of Women in the Metal Industries (AWMI), an international, professional organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in the metals industries. Ryerson has more than 20 members involved with AWMI, including members who serve or have served on the board of directors at the local, regional and national levels.
- Recruiting Veterans. Ryerson is committed to employing veterans and matching skills acquired during military service. The company partners with America's Job Exchange to recruit military personnel, as well as disabled and unemployed applicants.
