Ryerson offers three different types of aluminum tubing and pipe:
The most popular grades of aluminum pipe are 6061-T6, 6063-T6 and 6101, which are heat-treatable alloys. This means that the initial strength of the alloys is enhanced by the addition of elements such as copper, magnesium, zinc, and silicon. The strength of the alloy increases as these elements are exposed to higher temperatures.
With multiple options for cutting tubing to length, Ryerson can recommend the best processing method to meet your specific needs.
For many round tubing applications, Ryerson’s CNC lathes can cut to length at a lower cost than sawing. These rotary lathes can also deburr or chamfer up to two ODs and two IDs during cutoff, to help you eliminate costly secondary processing. Our high-speed, precision carbide saws complement other saw cutting capabilities to deliver close tolerance semi-finished parts.
Precision laser cutting is another option that provides tubes ready for your assembly. Ryerson’s broad range of processing and fabrication services can help increase the efficiency of your operations. We have the people and expertise to handle everything from first stage processing to such second stage services as bending, machining, plating, threading, and welding.
